Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, soprano Kaylyn Taylor finds joy in performing a wide range of repertoire spanning oratorio, opera, musical theatre, and art song. Concert highlights include Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and The Creation, as well as Handel’s Messiah. On the operatic stage, she has recently appeared as The Page in Rigoletto, Poppea in both Handel’s Agrippina and Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Young Leah in the world premiere of Lori Laitman’s Uncovered. Favorite musical theatre credits include Maria in The Sound of Music, Peggy in The Taffetas, and Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Kaylyn is especially passionate about amplifying the voices of underrepresented composers in the art song repertoire. She is currently curating an anthology dedicated to the solo vocal works of Swedish composer Laura Netzel, with the goal of making Netzel’s music more accessible to modern performers and audiences. Her recent recitals have featured the music of Isabelle Aboulker, Cécile Chaminade, and Liza Lehmann. This summer, she joins the Ravinia Festival as a Steans Vocal Fellow, performing songs by Gideon Klein, Ilse Weber, and Walter Braunfels.
